On Tuesday, a group of moms joined one of the most explosive debates at The State Capitol this year....gun rights.
The Georgia Chapter of Moms took aim at a bill passed last week in the House that would expand gun rights in public places like churches, schools, and government buildings because they feel the bill is dangerous.
State Representative Mandi Ballinger, a mom herself, not only voted for the gun bill one approximately week ago, she also spoke out in support of the gun bill, in the name of household protection. She says the law allows women to better protect themselves.
The proposed bill would allow churches and bars to decide if they will allow licensed gun owners, to carry in their buildings. It also would give schools the opportunity to arm a staff member such as a trained teacher or a security officer. The bill would also lessens the penalty for people caught with a gun on a college campus.
